Media silence in Denmark, Iran, and three protests in central Copenhagen.
It is difficult to explain the feeling of disconnection when opening the news sites in Denmark in recent days. While a revolution against the Islamic regime is unfolding in Iran—one whose outcomes could change the global order—here, a media silence reigns.
When the story was related to Israel, as in the war of June 2025, the headlines never ceased. But now, as the Iranian regime is massacring protesters under a complete "digital blackout" that began on January 8, you open the news here and find not a word.
January 10, 2026: Three Cries in Central Copenhagen
Today, January 10, 2026, central Copenhagen has become the stage for three parallel cries:
One for the Iranian people, a tiny one for the Kurdish people who are suffering a wave of violent arrests, and the third—a massive demonstration for the Palestinians.
The latter was by far the largest, and the only one where countless local Danes stood alongside the protesters.
Ironically, they marched from "Politiken House," the largest newspaper in Denmark, toward the journalists' union, protesting against news coverage that, according to the demonstrators, does not represent them adequately.
Israel-Palestine and the Margins of the Sidewalk
Opinions regarding Israel-Palestine vary across Denmark, some in favor and some against, but no one remains indifferent. The Danish media is obsessed with Israel—and sometimes it seems absurd how all the morality and global coverage revolve around this tiny piece of land between the sea and the river, while the tragedies of entire nations are pushed to the margins of the sidewalk.
