Description

Danish sculptor Jens Quistgaard was one of Denmark's greatest designers. His design changed the social world, not just the aesthetic. He challenged the silver candlesticks that required polishing and buffing, created distance and class separation, and instead created candlesticks that are close to the earth and bring people together. Once they gleamed in warm brass on a Scandinavian table in the 1960s, and now they return with a new presence—elegant matte black that emphasizes the form and precise proportions of the era. The candlesticks are signed on the bottom with the IHQ stamp and Dansk Designs name. Quistgaard's genius was always in functionality: the candle socket is screwed into the body. This mechanism allows not only easy cleaning but also versatility—the top part can be flipped and the candlestick can be used as a minimalist vase for a single flower.
