A small, beautiful and authentic serving tray, representing the pinnacle of 20th century functional Scandinavian design. Made from fine teak wood, the tray comes from the fascinating history of Silva company and brings natural warmth and quiet elegance to your table. The story of Silva begins not in home design, but in a breakthrough invention in navigation. The company was founded in Sweden in 1933 by three brothers – Björn, Alvar, and Arvid Kjellström – who were passionate navigators and developed the world's first liquid-filled compass. In the spirit of innovation and success, in the 1950s and 60s Silva began expanding into home design. During this period, handmade teak trays were produced, which became a symbol of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern aesthetics, and although the company originated in Sweden, many were produced in Denmark. This tray is designed in classic rectangular geometry and created using a delicate wood bending technique that emphasizes the natural and rich texture of teak. It has precisely elevated edges that provide a comfortable and secure grip when serving. It's ideal for serving coffee cups or as a decorative organizing element in the living room or on a coffee table, and perfect for creating a designed vignette. You can place an arrangement of small candles, display a small plant, or collect scattered items like TV remotes and coasters to create order and design statement in the space.
